Surface Preparation

This is the most important step towards success of any waterproofing treatment.

Check the surface for old paint, cracks, old repairs and loose materials. If old paint is loose or deteriorated, it is better to remove it fully by using wire brush or paint removal. Suitable products are available from Multichem under 'RESTORATION PRODUCTS'. Old repair should be checked for its soundness. If in doubt for its strength, remove complete repair products and follow 'MULTICHEM REPAIR SCHEME'. For cracks, follow 'CRACK REPAIR SCHEME' as mentioned below. Once the cracks are repaired, clean complete surface with clean water, using high pressure jet pump. High pressure jet pumps also remove loose particles and old paints. If the surface has algae or fungus, carry out biowash with BioKleen material.

Crack Repair Scheme

Open visible cracks to 3mm wide, with depth more than double the width. Wash the groove with clean water. If require, prime the groove with RainShield Ultraprime. For crack repair, two products are available such as Crackfix and Multiflex AC. Crackfix is based on white cement, and designed as non-shrink grout. Choose this product when temperature variation is not very high. Add water to repair material in dough form. Push the material in the groove and level it. Water cure the surface for proper curing of Crackfix. Multiflex AC is ready to use material in paste form with 12-25% flexibility. Use this material where high temperature variation is expected. Push the material in the groove and level it with surface. This product does not require any water curing.

Now the surface is ready for RainShield treatment.

Application of Sealer and Primer Coat

RainShield Ultraprime is the product used for sealing minute cracks and open capillaries. Once the surface is clean and free from loose particles, apply Ultraprime in diluted form to allow material to go deep into the surface. Two coats of Ultraprime will make surface free from porosity. Ultraprime is supplied as white base, hence it gives right condition for top coat application. The material has very high bonding strength with substrate with excellent penetration properties.

Application of Top Coats

Under RainShield Products Range, four products are being offered: 1. RainShield Uttam, 2. Raishield UltraCare, 3. RainShield RhinoStrong, 4. RainShield Lotusflo. Any one or in combination product can be used for getting complete leakage protection. Each product should be applied in minimum thickness as specified in Technical Data Sheets. As for as possible, use products as supplied in the can without dilution. Minimum two coats are applied one after other, once first coat is touch dry.

If rain is expected, do not apply material, as it may get washed away. All products set by evaporation of water in the material. Also it is also advised to restrict application under hot sun rays, or when temperature is very high.

Now your wall is ready to face any rain or water shower or heat.
